A healthy diet is important to me, and not just because my busy life makes it important to feel full of vitality and energy! The value of a healthy diet can't be underestimated - the nutrients that it provides not only makes you feel healthy on the inside, they can help you from an external perspective too.
After experiencing the living hell that is eczema, it became even more important for me to find natural, healthy ways of treating this extremely irritating condition. I noticed that after my son, Jake, was born, I started to suffer from severe eczema on my face - it was dry, sensitive and incredibly sore, so I looked around for something to use that might help to take away the pain and discomfort.
I started wearing Clinique make up and using the Clinique facial wash for sensitive skin - I really thought that this would help, but in reality it just made it worse!
Eczema and a healthy diet
The dry puffy eyes that eczema gave me made me look 10 year older than I really was – never a good thing, I’m sure you’ll agree! I spoke to doctors and looked around at different health websites, but they all advised me to use steroid creams to help treat the condition. This wasn’t an avenue I was prepared to go down, so instead I started to look at how a healthy diet, nutrients and a change in lifestyle might be able to offer an alternative remedy.
Because of my parents’ experience in natural foods and healthy living, I knew that by dealing with my eczema from the inside, I might stand a better chance of finally ridding myself from the constant pain and soreness I was experiencing. The first thing I did was to cut out alcohol, and reduce my intake of diuretics such as tea and coffee. Instead, I started to drink redbush tea and fruit teas, and made sure that I included lots of water in my diet. I also treated myself to some lovely Green People skin care products and changed my make up to the Bare Minerals range.

On top of following a healthy diet to ensure that I was getting a good balance of nutrients, I also started to take flaxseed oil capsules every day. I couldn't believe the transformation, or how quickly it worked - it really was incredible!
I now use Bare Minerals every day and since improving my healthy diet plan and tackling my eczema both internally and externally, I've never suffered with the condition since.
